Today marks the 50th anniversary of the club’s Third Division title victory in 1973/74.
Jimmy Frizzell’s side clinched the championship on the final day of the regular season with a draw at Plymouth.
Two games earlier, Latics earned promotion with a 6-0 victory against Huddersfield.
The title win remains one of the club’s finest hours and many of the players involved in the success have etched their name into history as club legends.
The club recently hosted a reunion for the surviving members of the team and in the video above, a number of them share their memories of that historic campaign.
